Sitting with Gary, we started chatting about his childhood.

"When I was 8 years old, I lived in the high-rises. I used to have to go downstairs to buy heroin for my mum and dad. I'd go down and chap the letterbox. I always remember the letterbox opening up and these two big eyes looking at me. I'd put £20 through the letterbox, desand they would give me a £20 bag."

Eight years old. What chance in life did he have? Yet people judge him on a daily basis when he's sitting there.

I said to him, "That's not normal."

"But it's my normal, mate," he replied.
